BBC Micro

BBC Micro

The BBC Micro, affectionately known as the Beeb, was an early home computer. It was designed and built by Acorn Computers Ltd for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

In the early 1980s, the BBC started what became known as the BBC Computer Literacy Project. The project was initiated partly in response to an extremely influential ITV documentary series The Mighty Micro, in which Dr Christopher Evans from the National Physical Laboratory predicted the coming (micro) computer revolution and its impact on the economy, industry, and lifestyle of the United Kingdom.

my fridge could beat it these days

I remember these my Dad had one from the 60s and never found out how to work it and was amazed when I drew a face with it.
The instruction manual had a cute intro
"Before using you computer you may have an urge to hit every key in sight. So do so by all means! You cant hurt it. Try seeing what they all do. You might notice it just keeps saying 'syntax error' or similar or that holding down a key will repeat that symbol until you depress it. Anyway, please continue."
