The encryption on the Wii virtual console games has been decrypted. It didn't take long and it was bound to happen. The surprising news though is that the games are nothing but roms. You can even play them on your regular emulators like Snes9x and they run perfectly!

That must suck to find out you've been paying for roms. Let me know what you think in the comments.

No surprise

Of course we've been paying for ROMs. Game cartridges have Read Only Memory (ROM) chips which are what are used to make ROM files you download from the net be it from here or any other site.

Umm... what else exactly would you be paying for? Besides, whether it's a straight ROM or not, the end result is the same, right?

And do you think the copyright holders don't deserve to be paid for their work or something? Because that's what you seem to be saying. I download as much ROMs as the next guy, but then, I don't have a Wii. If I did, I would use Virtual Console.

I guess they don't "HOLD" that much do they...I don't have a wii but if its more than 75 C a pop..looks like I'm stickin to my paid for pc.

I figuerd thatd be what it was, i dont have the cash to buy a wii but if i did i would be using the vitural console, i miss my old Snes, and ive been splicing vords for a few years now so if i had a wii id get one of those hardwired controls and splice an old SNES Controll to use with the roms lol

With a simple bluetooth adapter and some free software from the internet, you can use your wiimote with your PC

3D games suck

like, we were taking crisp satellite spy images in the 50's-60's, 3D games are just so effing horrible. 2D invokes passion and now that personal computers are affordable and everywhere i don't see why groups of people or companies aren't pumping out super long 2D games, which people would probably like more and probably easier to create. Oh wait, i know why, because you can't sell a copy after you've sold just a few (file sharing), and, and, you don't need to buy a $400-dollar separate console.

Asian products are jacked up 1000%. The economy goes down as the prices go up as the pay-rates stay the same.

Oh, and i don't think one's passion for a game has to do with the fact that they grew up in such-and-such a time and played those games, or something about 'being a kid'. I'd bet if any kid today played Secret Of Mana it'd be one of their favorite games today.

man i just feel like getting frustration off my chest!

Yes, there is a way to play roms on your Wii. Just twilight hack it, install homebrew channel, get an emulator and the roms and play. Oh, and I agree with you, anon, Secret of Mana and Crono Trigger are great games, and I grew up on the N64! 2D rocks!

I got Super Mario Bros. on my and I wanna ask you guys this:

If you have already downloaded the game onto your Nintendo Wii, can you download the ROM onto your PC as well and not get in trouble?

If that's the case, I officially love Nintenso.

Wii remote - PC

to use your Wii remote on the PC you must buy a Bluetooth USB stick and download PPjoy (freee download off internet) and GlovePIE (also free off internet). load your bluetooth and click add new devise and hold the 1+2 button on ur wii remote it should pop up with it. then install the two programs and WALAH you can use it.
