Another person I thought was younger than me but must not be (since you're in college and I'm a freshman as well)...Anyways, I do think the 360 should've been released next year, but IMO it's lookin' pretty freakin' tight. I really attempted to look from an un-biased standpoint which system I'd prefer (like last time new ones came out, when I decided on xbox), and I have to tell ya' 360 won by a landslide. At first I didn't like it (coming out so early)...but damn, a buncha games were previewed/announced that looked freakin' awsome [to me]! Full Auto, Gears of War, Blue Dragon, PDZ, Mass Effect, Oblivion, DOA4, Ninety-Nine Nights, & Enchanct Arm to name a few. Blue Dragon alone almost makes me giddy...Chrono Trigger is, like, one of my favorite games ever - Blue Dragon looks like a miracle from God! Some of the early/launch games certainly aren't looking up to par w/what's possible (things will only get better as time goes on, just like w/Xbox & Ps2), but there certainly are some gems.
I think the whole technology thing is a stupid debate this generation (unless you're talking about the Revolution, lol). Quite frankly, both the PS3 AND 360 are showing some amazing upgrades. Both systems were highly underpowered last generation for what was possible, now this time they are on the current cutting edge of PC technology! It's true in a year or two PC's will have a good lead again, but the Devs of Oblivion & CoD 2 have flat-out stated their games look better on the 360 than a high end PC. Tell me, am I the only one here who doesn't even want videogames to look any more real? Call me crazy, but I kinda like it when I games still look like...well...games, lol. It's an artisitc preference. I think it's interesting that PS3 is offereing Blu-Ray...but to be honest, I really don't wanna pay for it (a DVD still holds PLENTY). The PS3 has some promising titles lined up as well...but nothing that excites my fancy like the afore-mentioned 360 stuff (look up any you don't know, they all look great!).
Anyways, I'll certainly be picking up a 360 eventually...Probably more like near the end of next year (like maybe around my birthday in August -_^), or later. It would be tight ass if they released the workable PC/360 they were discussing before since buying a PC w/the 360's specs (not possible quite yet, though, w/the triple cores) is more towards the $1,000's range rather than $100's! I'm positive at least nearly all the games I mentioned are going to be great, though, so it sure is going to be tough deciding what to get when I actually get the durned thing (especially at the stupid new industry-wide $60 thing). College is 'spensive, 'yo.
