So, HL2 came out today, and for all those people who bought it over steam, it was available to play at 12.00am PST.

I didnt get up super early to play it, although I was eager.

The game is very good so far, Ive played it for around 2 hours and its shaping up to be one crazy game, the story is really involving, and the graphics are obviously amazing.

Has anyone else picked this game up yet? What are you thoughts?

I played about 2 or 3 hours of it today, so far its the best game I've ever played. It's really going to be hard for any thing to top this.

After Half-life 1, I don't find myself itching for more (gun-play and story-wise).

Just for the record this is not a halo - halo 2 affair. This game is pretty much completely different from the first half life, the story is crazy.

i ordered it off amazon first class post and it came on tuesday morning at 9:10am.
really really good game, got about half way through it already. graphics are sexual, can't say the story is highly detailed but its not bad though.

I think its one of those games that you cant really comment on the story till you actually finish it, they give you the story literally piece by piece.

i'll have to wait til i finish it then. just got/getting out of the prisons at the moment. can't remember exact level name.

back to HL2 I lost my save games at about 50% completion but I've got bac kto where I was now.... ?I wish I didn't have to go to work and I could finnish it soon lol....

anyone else having tweaking problems getting it to run?? I've got an AMD 3000, 1GB DDR 2700 and an ATi 9800 (running as a pro) and I'm having a few problems getting it to run 1024 full details (dropped to 20-25fps at one point)

Its that shabby card as far as I can tell...my bro has the same setup apart from the card and he gets similar performance to me.

i've still got my athlon 2200, 512 ram and 9800 pro and mine runs nicely most of the time. i did have to take AA off though in scenes where theres a lot of stuff to look at. mainly near the end when those twats are following you around. more crap to process i guess.

it's the fact it's a 9800 I think, I know it's deff not an SE though cos that'd get about 20fps on 640 medium, I've got used to it now I'm playing in 1024 medium details cos I get pissed off when at certain points it slows down (lots of explosions is the biggest slow down) so I can tweak it but I really cba

i completed HL2 finally, after being 10 minutes frmo the end and not realising it (i got bored and stopped playing for a few days) and the ending was.. not an ending. must be like that to keep you in suspense before the addons come out.

Although Deathmatch came out today, and I have to say, killing someone by throwing a sink at their face with the grav gun, is simply hilarious.

tried dm today thought it was quite good.... sink to the face is annoying though when ur up 7-1 and then 3 bastards sink u in quick sucession.... I really love the mag and crossbow though I had allot of fun today..... oh yer scott I was on 18-15 at my peak (I know it's shit but if any of u guys have seen me play CS then u'd know that's a big improvement to my usual 4-30)

but yea i just beat half life 2 yesterday at work, it was an amazing game, best fps I'ver ever played, and ive never even played the 1st half life
