Has any one besides me been keeping up with e3 this year?

While the Xbox 360 is nice and all the ps3 came out swinging and completely crushed it in terms of power and potential, while Nintendo sat in there corner trying to figure out what to do next. This is easily one of the best E3s ever.

Nintendo did not really show off to much, which is sad because I lean towards more Nintendo now days, they showed what the Nintendo rev. looks like, and its pretty but they did not show any of the new games from it, but assured that they are soon to come and that launch titles will have a Mario and maybe a Metroid game. The kicker of this system is that it is going to be full backwards compatible with ALL the classic consoles, by downloading of games from the classics (Nintendo finally realized theres a lil thing called the Internet). The new Zelda is amazing, and from what I saw might be the best Zelda game ever. Nintendo also showed off another version of the gba, called the Micro. Its small, really really small. not much to say besides that.

Now to start about the Playstation 3, just go watch the trailer for Kill Zone 2. This has been stated by one of the higher ups on g4 e3's live show last night that it is full real time and what we saw was game play. Here is a link http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/killzone2/media.html . On top of all this amazing power, it's using blueray dvd's which as most already know here hold up to 4-6 times as much as dvd's right now. They system is also completely backwards compatible all the way back to psx. so heres a quick over few, It has a core gpu that is 2 times faster than the gf6800 ultra 512mb, an amazing cell processor, and the use of 256 meg of Xdram plays blueray games and dvd's, will have full online play/features, amazing Eyetoy saport (watch the press conference and you'll see what I mean.), backwards compatible with ps2 and psx, as well as up to 7 wireless controllers on one system thanks to bluetooth.

I don't really have much to say about the xbox 360, they really did not focus on games from what I saw, it was all about xbox live, which seemed to have alot of stuff that just isn't really good for a gaming consoles. The idea of micropayments for things like game skins and user created levels bug the hell out of me, they are gonna try and make the xbox 360 some thing every one wants to get buy adding all this stuff like t-shirt design for game and products (thats right you get to pay for each your ads. now, leave it to the big M.) as well as a lil mini arcade, movie trailer downloads and such. They did say that it is backwards compatible with "the top xbox games", now the thing is they didn't say all so people have been wondering what they mean by that. The games that were shown were pretty cool looking, but sadly no great shakes over what we have now, even DOA4 was just kind eh, I expected more out of the company in terms of power. The only really good game that they showed was Gears of War. This game looks cool, so cool that I might pick up an xbox 360 some time down the road to play it. Other than that, every thing that was shown just did not cut it compared to the ps3, and even compared to some games out today.

I really recommend going and downloading the press conferences (bittorrent you all know where to go for the stuff, if you don't just pm me and ill send you the torrents), or you could stream or download (with a free account) right here, http://www.gamespot.com/e3/e3live.html

Hopefully this gets some people talking again.

Blueray is now up to 100 GB per disc. They can make them quadruple layered now. What I think is most interesting about the whole mess is what will happen with the future of DVD's. Some companies are going with Bluray and some with HD-DVD. Are we going to have to own two DVD players in the near future so we can read both formats?

Sorry bane but no its not. I'm lucky anuf that gamestop will send who ever works there if that wants to go.
I have a feeling that dvds are going to be in both formats or dvd players will play both. One thing that is cool is that ps3 is the only next gen. system using a new dvd format, which really gives it a boost since there will be so much room for each game.

Actualy, if you so much as sell video games, and can prove this upon purchasing pass. You can get in. It's not commonly knowen, but it's true. Because you're part of the industry. The more you know :D

this is true (its how im gettig in lol), but you have to be with a company or own a store, or even if you just have a video game website, you can be at e3. Its gonna cost you a hell of a lot of money, but you can be.

although i probably wont by a next next gen console ( i think i'll skip a generation) i was really dissapointed by the xbox 360. it looks like just a money grab by MS and reminds me of the Saturn/DC in terms of sticking with things. The Xbox has only been out for like what, 3 years? and the new xbox360 isnt even a collosal advancement, its just a means of trying to hinder playstation sales. I think that its bogus, and the fact that it only plays regular dvds is a dissapointment. On the other hand, from what i've read about the PS3 on slashdot and cnet, it looks like it could be a definite success. I just hope that their internet play is more along the lines of PC or DC setups, instead of the gayness that is xbox live.

but since i probably wont get either (definitly not ever considering nintendo) the above post was useless

O you know I will, whats the point of going to E3 if you don't take lets of pics of booth babes?

To bane: this is a rom site, so I really really really really doubt that they would even try to go to e3 off this site, knowing that the companies there really don't like this type of thing.

Um, one time I posted about Nintendo made emulators. I'm loving that news. By the compact size and the focus on form. Does that mean that the rev is just gonna be powerful enough (with some great franchises)? Will it finally draw the support it needs to appeal to a broad spectrum of users and get the attention of more mature developers? I won't mention the touch screen controller yet (cause I'm so fucking skeptical).

The 360 is supposed to be supporting dual graphics processors and the support of well known 3rd party developers. In the website news I read they are planning on some new xbox live tech to give its fanbase that extra incentive. I can honestly say that they got a majority of their fanbase without broadband. I'm thinking the (old) XBOX can be the most viable console for us to ride out the new launches provided they have some grade A games. The graphics on it never fail to wow my 8-bit eyes.

The PS3 has got blu-ray but how far can disc capacity get us? I mean look at a supposedly inferior system like the GC it has one of the most awesome games ever in RE4 (graphics and gameplay wise). Although it's got the small to gigantic developers in its corner. Some websites still debate that most of the new PS3 games were rendered and not actual gameplay.

During the last console war, I was really dissappointed by sticking with the GC for a year or so (I can admit I got a lot great first party, adequate second party and a few nice third party titles). I finally got the answer (for me at least). I'm going to hold out and sink my money into a proven medium. My only question is...are were going to have the same sticking point as before? One system that out guns the rest in graphics...one that has an impressive library but is incapable of delivering certain experiences (graphic and content...even if they both have the same game) and one that is considered a system for a certain age group from nostalgic to entry level...

We had some awesome console war debate comments in the past. I hope some of the older members will visit and lend their views (along with the new).
