As most of you know when games leave Japan, they leave little things with them like dialog and graphics but this is the first I've heard of sound. Apperently Akumajo Densetsu had it's own sound engine where the game sounded more like it was played on an organ than a cheesy NES Keyboard. I personally like ours better but it does make things sound better.
Some of the graphic changes are preaty obvious.
You can't really tell from this still picture but the sky moves in the Japanese game. Maybe the transfer from the Japanese game didn't go well and some programmer just got lazy.
For obvious reasons we couldn't keep the bloody title. I think ours is still preaty cool though but I also like how the Japanese refraind from using numbers to clerify their Castlevania games. If most of you know, the timelines jump. It's kinda cool how the Japanese optid not to clutter their title screen with legal crap to make the sound mode look nicer. Come on guys...that's why we call them CREDITS!
Here is one that I don't understand is the japanese cross change. Maybe everyone else thought that the churches would have had a coniption fit if we...glorified a holy symble? (Like they don't already think the game is evil)
Here is another good example of why cencorship is retarded. Someone had to have thought this creature was too "evil" looking for them to remove it........No one wanted to edit in igor in the movie with the giant killer bunnys that were fried on the electrified train tracks but we should go ahead and edit that out though.
This is the only one that make sence. The American zombie is one of the only better animated sprites along with the American holy water droping sprite.
Animation is one of the largest things changed in the swaps but difficulty is next largest thing changed. In most cases, the American versions are always tweaked in the players favor...except in this case. In the J/US switch, the Japanese enemy damage is based on the enemy, not the level being played. Which means Medusa Heads will give 2 damage thoughout the entire game. On a personal note, I've been playing this game alittle and I noticed that grant throws a dagger instead of stabbing his pussy knife. We always get the short stick.
If anyone is interested in playing the game you can find it right here at theroms under Akumajo Densetsu and if you're looking for an english translation patch, well I have one right HERE. ( You'll need a LUNAR IPS )
