hey guys just wondering if you could check out this site for me and see what you think www.toleranceworld.com

It's my bf's band's site. its taken ages to get up and still isnt finshed but check it out,

you can listen to a demo on www.myspace.com/toleranceuk

demo isnt great, the person who did it sucked, he didnt get the instruments totally in time and the singer had a cold(!) which makes the singing sound a bit off but tell me what u think despite this (!)

Zero's record company wants them to do a USA and Canada tour so i want to see you all there cos im proabbly going too!

cheers guys! *hugs*

I'm not tryin to be a dick so try not to take this personally. The demo sucks...bad. That demo is so bad that if it were my band, I would take that demo down and NEVER let anybody hear it. The singer is off key, the instruments are waaaaaaay out of time, in general it's just poor. The website isn't much better, the color hurts my eyes and it has few typos. Having said all that shit, I want to like these guys, Cannonball is not a bad song, but that demo makes it painful to listen to. That demo is my first introduction to the band, it should be well done, an example of their best work.

yeah i'm gonna have to agree with CJ

the song has potential, but the demo just sounds too amateur. Lead singer is way off cue, and the start of the song is pretty week, especially with the snare. Some parts in the middle are pretty good, but overall the song just doesnt feel complete.

told you the singing wasnt great and it was out of time! and youre right zip, it;s missing two keyboard parts, backing signing and some bass bits.

the dude who did it just didnt give a shit about it really, thing is we just cant afford to get it done properly which sucks cos theyve got some good songs and thats not me being biast, im their biggest critic. there is another demo and we're working on getting it up on my space. oh and the snare shouldve been faded in but, once again, the dude who recorded it didnt bother!

not sure how red and black can hurts ur eyes though and im not too bothered about the typos :P

I've got to agree with the other guys. . . Singer sounded funny and I'm sure I heard some timing fluxuation going on.

I shouldn't really say it hurts my eyes, it's just uncomfortable to look at. Again this is my first introduction to the band, it needs to make me want to go see these guys.

I have to agree with ziptal - the song itself has potential, but the performers need either practice (a lot), or a mute button. (sorry)

Hint: the shade of red on the website would be great if the brightness was corrected slightly. (bright red will give you headaches after a while too!) The site looks clean; simple that is, and it's easy to navigate at least.

like i say, its only as good as the producer, the guitarist is one of the best guitarsit in the country so its noit like the playing is amatur, its the producing. i wanna know what you think of the song itslef, not the problems, i already know the problems!!!

thanks for the consructive critism tet

Basically all the compliments of "it has potential" with none of what we actually think of it?

Sure, we've mentioned that the recording is bad, but at the same time we've mentioned the singer (not the back up singers may I add, the lead singer. . . which while it's not the song itself but if you can use the guitarist as a plus we can use the singer as a negative), the beginning being way iffy. I'll add in that the bass part can use some work. . . big time.

For their biggest critic, you're sure defending them from every bit of critisism we give. . . Not to be mean, but if you're going to get offended that we don't like the song then don't bother posting it.

tbh if they're serious they should save up and get a proper demo sorted... I know it might take longer but leaving that around will give them a bad reputation... that's almost as bad as admiting they're christians or something (P.O.D might have still been cool if they hadn't admitted that lol)

im not offended but whats the point in telling me problems i already know about and have explained what the reasons for the problems are, seems like a waste of breathe to me, well....typing, its like you saying play this game but level 7 isnt finshed yet because you havent had time and then we all turn around and say, er, level 7 isnt finshed. its like, yes, i know this, i told you this,

although i would love to get it done proffesionally, we're all skint to the point of going hungry that last week before pay day so getting in done proffesionally is out of the question. although we are rerecording the whole album on the mac so hopefully we'll have a better version soon.

jeez! whats so difficult about asking for contructive critism!! look at what sweetgirl said, said yeah, its got some problems, thats how she'd fix and good points of the stuff, thats helpful, not "its shit"

i'll try and get some live footage so you can see what its like at a gig.

I for one did you some suggestions,

Quote:
I would take that demo down and NEVER let anybody hear it.

that was one, here is another one...

Quote:
That demo is my first introduction to the band, it should be well done, an example of their best work.

I understand all the reasons that you gave us and the problems you are aware of, however, that doesn't mean that I will excuse them or ignore them. If they can't afford a proper demo, or at least one that isn't painful to listen to, then they probably should not have one at all.

A website and a demo both are kind of like a resume for a band. If you hand some a resume that makes you look like an amateur, you will likely not get the job. Clean up the typo's on the website (another suggestion) tone down the brightness on the website (yet another suggestion), and either fix that demo or take it down.

Here's a suggestion:
Bathrooms have excellent acoustics. (or a room with no furniture.) If you're that hard up for cash, make a demo in the crapper. Take several recordings, and post the one that sounds best. But, before doing so, make sure no-one left a floater....... (don't ask!)

Way too much echo for recording. Terrible idea.

no its not actually, i knowof a few artists who've recorded in their bathrooms, not to make it echoier but give it a more studio sound. god, what's with people being mean today!??

Hehe, its ironic the band is named Tolerance and we can barely tolerate their music.

I don't think a producer can just be the ultimate fix for a crappy/off key band. As some of the homies mentioned before...practice and core skills will go a lot farther.

Powerpop? Pop is like Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys and Lindsay Lohan right (pretty much music thats uneasy to listen to)? It may be a bad idea to add a guitar riff and some "angst" to that sound. Even the mention of pop means instant sell out to me (which goes against the slashed punk designation anyway).

Goth girl. With all due respect......I think love is blind and most definitely tone deaf. Rock on.

I know of a few too, and every recording from the bathroom I've heard has way too much echo/reverb to be standable. It wasn't mean-ness it was just plain fact. If these artists you talk about have good recordings. . . well I don't know what I was going to say here.

The reverb sounds good in reality because it covers up a lot of imperfections and makes a fuller sound. When the microphone picks up that same sound, it's pretty shoddy.
