Did it live up to your expectations?

I own the VHS trilogy and they are cool, but it's not the special edition (and that can be nice without all that CG shit). The originals have their own special appeal. I got ESB on that old record player shit and it runs great.

I would of liked more special features (movie specific wise). For a Star Wars fan I feel the DVDs are the best offering a fan can recieve. The only thing I don't like about the new trilogy is that for movie specific features you gotta visit a website. And on top of that they are gonna dole em' out later.

The picture is awsome (on the widescreen Wega, I should pawn that shit) and the sound is awesome on the Dolby 5.1 (compatible DVD system, I ain't rich) sound system. I just would of liked it to cater to us users who ain't got a connection that download paris' dick sucking in a few seconds.

i'd be tempted to get it but i already have the originals on vhs so i don't see the point. although i did see the new version advertized on TV and the picture really does look great, a lot lot better than the old one.

I hate the special editions of the movie. So I didn't even think it was worth 3 blank DVDs to burn. I did watch the special edition documentary thing though. That was pretty cool.

I downloaded the original laser disc versions of the movies without the crazy changes that Lucas made. Pretty good quality, much better then VHS, but no where near the quality of the new DVDs. I can live with it though since I would rather not watch extended muppet singing scenes and Han shoots first damnit!

I'm 100% with Tha Masster on this one. I downloaded the original trilogy from the Laserdiscs on Bit Torrent, burnt 'em to DVD, and I am more than pleased. Sure the new DVDs look incredibly nice, but the Laserdiscs are surprisingly crisp themselves.

nothing will ever equal the original's, its just that simple. if i remember correctly, the only change that i thought was ok in the special editions was the addition of jabba in the first movie, and i think i heard that they fixed his cartoonyness in the dvd's. other than that the changes really just sucked, first and foremost, the elimination of the ewok celebration song. i remember back in the day me and my friends used to run around school singing that song. and it pissed me off when it wasn't in the special editions. i donno, i guess if somebody i know buys it i'll watch it, but it would have been nice if the origanial versions were included also...

Agreed. I watched a DVD (can't remember which) that asked if you wanted to watch the movie with or without the deleted scenes. That'd of been nice to have the option to watch the original (non-cg) movie all cleaned up and sounding awesome. To most movie goers that may look great, but to most gamers. The cut scenes in most games can look just as good (and just as fake compared to live action).

I watched most (due to how long it was) of that documentary that Chris mentioned (I agree its very interesting). It sounded like once Lucas got the money, he could finallly let the movies realize his full vision. I guess that included fake looking aliens and animals. Ah, well its new content and a better experience for a $41.99 DVD (from Amazon).

Although, now that he's got the money part down. I really don't find the prequels very exciting (except for the new Darth Vader one).

Know this, Hayden "can't act worth a shit" Faggenson's face is on Vader's ghost at the end rather than the original actor for Vader.

omg no. I hate that motherfucker.

I bought the set, because I dont have a VHS player and they were proper wank quality.

Also I was too young when I watched them originally to tell any differences, I just attempt to enjoy them.
