On the eve of the release of New Line's "Freddy Vs. Jason," it should come as no surprise to discover that the grinding wheels of development are already hard at work on concepts for the next film in the inevitable "Freddy & Jason" franchise.

Reliable sources have revealed that one of the current ideas being tossed around includes a scenario where Freddy and Jason would team-up against a common enemy: Bruce Campbell as Ash from the "Evil Dead" films. As crazy as it might sound, this concept has apparently been met with a great deal of enthusiasm in the upper-echelons of New Line Cinema. (Not to mention the degrees of separation: "FvsJ" producer Sean S. Cunningham directed Campbell in last years "Terminal Invasion" for the SciFi Channel.)

While it's impossible to predict what sort of "unknowns" might prevent this concept from seeing the light of day (like, say, the rights holders of the "Evil Dead" series or Campbell himself saying no) it's interesting to know that New Line is at least considering what could turn out to be many a fanboy's dream team-up "plus one" for the not-to-distant future...

If this happens I'll shit my self. Ash will Kick BOTH freddys and jasons collective asses.

that's not anywhere close to a fair match-up! Ash wouldn't have any problem beating both Jason and Freddy. I kinda hope they don't actually make that... it would be odd.

Why so upset? It was BOUND to happen. Major movie franchiese like that always end up tieing the knot together somehow. Beside, if they do it right. and Ash for some unknowen reason DOES appear in the same reality as jason and freddy, it could be morbidly funny, and twice as bloody. Dont forget, movies like The Night Of The Living Dead, and Evil Dead helped brake some of the Censorship so movies like freddy and jason and halloween could be made.

I;ve heard nothing but good about it. Infact I also heard plans that they wanted to spread alternet endings one where freddy wins, and one where jason wins amongst differante locations.

Unfortunately, I AM a basement nerd. I haven't left my basement for 2 days, and I rarely put clothes on. I play video games and chat all day. Natural sunlight hurts my skin.

basement nerds are the ones that obsess over crap like this and are still living in their parents basement at 30, technically, you aren't a basement nerd yet. not until you hit 30, or plan to do that anyway.

There's some interesting stuff that actor Bruce Campbell had to say to The Seattle Times newspaper this week. Campbell spoke with a Times reporter about the Seattle screening of Don Coscarelli's BUBBA HO-TEP, that Elvis Presley/Jack Kennedy versus a 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy movie we've been hearing about. The legendary chin of the EVIL DEAD films said that there's already talk of a sequel (or maybe even a prequel) and where it could take place...

""It's 'Bubba Sasquatch' we were working on," Campbell told the Times. Elvis in the Pacific Northwest, searching for the legendary Sasquatch? "Come on, man! I'm-a find me that bigfoot, baby," Bruce adds.

And it looks like where there's smoke, there fire. Remember those rumors about New Line Cinema thinking about a possible ASH vs. FREDDY vs. JASON movie, starring Campbell's classic character from Raimi's EVIL DEAD films? It looks like the rumors may be grounded in reality.

"Some executives at New Line are getting (excited) for that idea ? which makes a lot of sense," Campbell told the paper. "But Ash has not been contacted to see what his franchise rate is. Funny thing is, it's actually a really cool idea, as long as there could be a satisfying end to that particular movie. There'd be no point for Ash to participate unless he could kick some major franchise ass."
