yeah i saw it, and i have to say, its worth a watch, just so that it can be attempted to understand how this movie is such a cultural phenomenon. But after watching you realize the movie is nothing more than 2 hour gore fest that involves watching jesus get beat (particularily whipped) for more than 2 hours.

What annoyed me about this movie, is that i came in knowning little about jesus (i never read the bible or went to church). When i came out of the movie, i was still in the dark about jesus. the movie DOES NOT tell shit about why the jews wanted to kill him - other than he is a nusance, and although the movie is called "the passion" it doesnt really explain anything about jesus other than that he is cool and invented some table . (wow).

the chick i went with used to goto church, and even she said the movie really doesnt talk about christs' passion. all it does is seem to show that he was beaten allot 2000 years ago.

Personally i still cant understand how this movie became a hit, other than by people's morbid facination with gore, and the unpresidented media attention the movie garnered by the scorn it recieved from jews and the positive reviews from christians.

The movie is called "the passion" because it is a take on the passion-play of Germany, initially created to piss of jewish people and get people against them . . . seriously. ^^;

Also, the "Passion Of Christ" actually means "The Suffering Of Christ"...It was the original use of the word, to show suffering, but was changed somewhere along the line..

This is a good point you make Ziptal. Too often we see the teachings of Christ in the form of his suffering. While I guess it could say something, the actual life of Jesus could show us a lot more about "the passion" if we were to know the rest of the story. Sure, u beat a guy and put him on a cross, but thats what happened to any person back then who comitted blasphemy. But, I think "the passion" could get the point across A LOT better were we to know the rest of his life.

Unfortunately, some say that 20-30 years of Jesus's life was lost there between Nazareth and Rome. I believe theres a back story to be told about Jesus that could explain a lot more about Christianity. Couldn't have just been sitting around for 20-30 years could he?

Anyway, just wanted to make that point there.
