I only took a quick look cause I'm at work, but it looks good to me... did you find out what the error(s) was?

Yeah... I submitted a support ticket asking them to send me the details of the error and the guy responded to me in exactly 3 minutes. Turns out I forgot to upload a file :)

I also want to give a heads up to current members of the forum. You may want to start collecting screenshots of your favorite games and emulators. I have a feeling they may come in handy for you sometime soon.

Or not. Whatever. I am crazy.

I put a few ZSNES screenshots up and a few game shots up. There'll be more as I get more roms.

Also, I accidentally uploaded two screenshots of ZSNES under VisualBoyAdvance because I must have been on crack or somthing. My mistake :(

One pic shows the error I got on the forum. Notice both the main page and forum are loading... for serveral seconds.. (maybe one min)

and the last screenshot show when the server restarted, everything was working fine after that.. only 2 ppl online after that.... (must of kicked everyone off)

Other screenshot shows 25 ppl online before the site went down (before the loading started)

This has happened to me 4 times now (last two days), and I'm not on the site 24/7.... so it must happen alot more

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

What it looks like to me is the web server is restarting. This usually takes 30 seconds or so to complete so that's why it isn't down for very long.

The way the users online counter works is that it counts how many active sessions there are in the application. When the web server is restarted it removes all the active sessions as well. This is why you see the number sudden drop all the way down.

I will email this information to the host and see if they can give me any details on why this is happening in the first place.

May I make a few suggestions to the new site?

Instead of having the emulation section alphabetically cut up into pages, why not make it into sections.
How about like the old way or choose by letter.
I personally liked it the old way, all on one page and divided up into sections.

Put all the version\languages into one link because this is confusing

You have 3 with the same name.

And as a final request PLEASE get rid if hacked versions.
As hard as it is to weed through the different languages to find the original it's even more so to find with litters of hacks. I say keep it original and let them find their own hack patches.

It'd be nice to browse by letter and such.

Also, will N64 roms be uploaded? One of my friends still insists on downloading from "coolroms" just because they've got N64 roms.

Tool.

I agree that the systems page has to be set up differently... Users have to click "Next" a few times to get to Super Nintendo... which isnt all too bad if we were only intetested in getting hits.. but its not very user friendly.. I suggested pages displayed on top of the page showing what pages have what systems.. example: [3DO-Atari XL] [BBC Micro-Intellivision] etc...

Regarding the different version on games, I believe we would have to go thru it manually inorder to prune the ones we dont want on there. Chris already wrote a code that group ones that have the same name but different ending.. (English or Jap Version) but if the file itself has a different name it would be hard to tell them apart...

..and I'm assuming that goes to same with the hacked version unless all the hack version have the same name but I didnt version ending.. nameofrom[Hacked] or whatever..

We currently have over 40,000 Roms... so it would be very time consuming for us to go thru each section and edit them... I pretty much send Chris a text file of which roms I have in which folder and he just pops it into the site...

I will be getting my hands on a complete set of N64 Roms, and hopefully GBA Roms in the next two weeks or so...
As far as having n64 roms on my server, thats unlikely... I will have to upload them into a site similar to rapidshare because my server wouldnt be able to handle n64 roms... due to how popular and big the files area.. my internet provider would also kick me out :)

But I wouldnt think GBA would be that bad, they are still popular, but not that big (compared to n64) of a file....

and this is a bit off topic, but what all do i need to write my own flash carts for the GBA?

What about the torrent idea?

I've only used torrents a couple of times and that was a few years ago. TheRoms.com doesnt have to host anything right? We just supply a link or small file for the person to download then they use a torrent program to download it from a different site / or person(s) right??

If thats the case maybe we can add a torrent section to the site and provide the links / files for ppl to download torrents... If anyone is interested in setting up the torrent section of the site, if it does go through, then I cant say for sure.. but I dont think Chris would mind if you set it up and help with it... Chris is busy with school, and there still needs to be a shit load of things to be added to the site...

do you know any websites similar to rapidshare? or ways around rapidshare for them not to take down n64 roms when uploaded?
I would like to see GBA Roms on the site as well, Chris was worried we might get in trouble because their still making GBA Roms (and their still on store shelves) But I dont think they will shut us down for having GBA Roms
