my friend has a program that can burn things like .mpeg and .avi files to cd's so they can be read by dvd players. anybody heard of a program that can do that, and if so, could you send a link to where i could pick it up?

Well usually you have to encode the avi to mpeg, so that the dvd can read them. It's called converting it to VCD. You can TMpeg, I find it to be the best program out there and straightforward to use.

BEWARE You will need a good comp to encode, and it will take hours to do so. Plus it stresses your comp too. I reccommend at least a 800mhz proccessor, 512+mb of ram, a 7200rpm hard drive and at least 10gb of space laying around.

I know some people that burn me DVD's and stuff like that (I'm the music hook-up around here, he's the movie hook-up). I don't know any programs, but just so you know, not all DVD players will play them. Only DVD players that will read CD-R's AND have VCD compatibility.

I used TMpeg like Tetsuo reccoemnded (thanks), but after I burn the completed product, it doesn't splice in the audio. If anyone knows of a program that can split audio and video in a .mpeg file, please tell me.

oh yeah and on those specs, it only took me about an hour to encode 300 megs, and my pc's maybe half those specs
