Were I old enough to vote, I'd go Kerry. While Bush and Kerry are both ass holes who will do nothing good for this government, Bush is slightly more so than Kerry. If it wouldn't be a wasted vote then I'd say go Nader.

From my standpoint. Things don't change much with a new President.

I'll let the voters (who care) choose which millionaire runs our country next.

It's like putting spoiled kids who never worked for the money they have in charge of the world.

well i wouldnt consider john kerry spoiled, he did have to earn his money, and also fought for his country.

But i'm not really interested in this political election, because i know george bush will win reguardless, because the General american mentality is self interest and bush's policies promote that.

I read the rest of your post. And, I agree.

I think he (kerry) is on the same wavelength as Bush. As in he's got nothing to lose...he does have a billionaire wife though. For the most part what is it hurting him if he doesn't win? He's still got a bitch with a load of cash (that is essentially his, if she is truly in love). Is this his chance to be the provider/pull his weight by being in charge of her billionaire ass (and her eventual dollar)?

It really ain't about thier money. I don't want any person that only has a dollar to his name to be president and declares a holiday..."getting fucked up day". I'd just rather have a person the majority can indentify with (as in a person that works hard to keep anything that they worked so hard for).

In the end. What are they going to do about the war (on terror)? Too many lives/lies have been invested in it to quit now.

i'd say that if kerry goes in, we may actually fight in the war against terror, rather than the war against Iraq.

And come on, all those people who "don't wanna vote 'cause bush is gonna win anyway..." Imagine if all those people did vote. Every vote matters... it's not just a damned right, it's a friggen responsibility.

No it can be your responsibility to put a crook up in office because the electoral college votes make the real difference so whos vote really counts in the in.

Remember that

With about 2 states aside, the electoral colleges votes go the candidate who wins the popular vote for their state. So that argument is completly out the window.

The electoral votes are placed by people who are selected by the winning party in that state, so generally (and pretty much 100% of the time), a states electoral votes ALL go to the candidate who won in that state. and the electoral college vote #'s are a pretty good rationing of the state populations across. Yeah, it's an archaic system, but there's only been 2 elections in the history of america where a candidate won the popular vote, and lost the election. and only one of them was genuinely played by the rules. The other election was decided by 9 supreme court justices. In our lifetimes, we'll probably see the deconstruction of the electoral college and the institution of a pure popular vote system.

And it's OUR job to make sure our elected officials do what we elected them to. instead of pissing and moaning about it, call your senators, local and national. If they recieve a certain amount of calls and/or letters, (generally between 300-700 depending on the state) They are REQUIRED BY LAW to address the issue in a public setting. C'mon, i know it sucks, but we all as a whole (at least the eligible voters. If not, convince people around you who are to do it for you) need to be more political, and speak up when our government is doing things we don't like.

I personally would like to see the electoral college go away just for the mere fact that it's just so much easier to just count the votes instead of hundreds of recounts for the penis of America (*cough*Florida*cough*).

Also, please stop complaining about how bad America is if you never vote. If you really don't like it that much, then leave. Anyone is free to leave their nation if they don't like it (unless you live in China or something... that could be a problem).

Yeah, maybe all the candidates are just a buncha politicians w/their own agendas, but you know what... YOU CAN CHANGE THAT! Sure, it's hard to do in todays system, but in all reality, the gov't can get rather scared of it's own people rather fast if you demand change.

All I'm saying is just stop complaining about how bad America is, and you do, VOTE. The reason you're able to actually complain after voting is cause you took the initiative to change something. If it doesn't change, you still have the right to complain (you always will, but you can at least have a reason behind it) because you gave it the one shot you had.

Anyway, yeah...

no i dont think so, the reason for the electoral college is to represent regions. Otherwise, the entire election would only matter on like los angeles and newyork.
so to balance it, there is an electoral college.
but what do i know, i'm canadian.

Even with the electoral college places like Los Angeles and New York decide the election because the amount of electoral college votes a state is worth is defined by the amount of people living in that state. Why do you think my state (CA) is about 1/8th of the entire election in the US? A population equal to Canada in one state really.

And now for a little rant...

Speaking of CA, ever wonder why Northern and Southern CA are still one state? Cause even if the opportunity came up, the people in the South would vote it down... all I've got to say to them is...

GET YOUR OWN DAMN WATER!!!
