I dont know how many of you are tech savvy or not, but there is some new technology coming out later this year - i think some of it is already out in japan. It is new DVD type discs, HD-DVD and Blu-ray. These nextgen discs each have their pros and cons and hold upto 50gigs.

What i find interesting is that some market analyists have said that the winner of the nextgen war will be decided not by the public and not by the movie industry. No it will be decided by the porn industry!

why? becuase the porn industry produces over 11,000 titles a year and which ever direction they take will have a large impact on the market of these discs.

On top of this, if you look to the past for technological revolutions, VHS, DVD and i'm not totally sure, but probably some movie formats like mpeg and avi; porn has been a major driving force in the change over to those technologies.

so what can you say except salute porn for making society a more technologically advanced place. Thank you, Jenna Jameson.

Thank you porn. I do kinda hope the blu-ray are the ones that end up going out. I remember reading that ever one of the has re-write ablity (idk if thats true or not.)

I doubt Blu Ray will end up being the 'winner'. It's Sony's proprietary format <sarcasm> and all their previous ones have done so well. </sarcasm>

How about .mp3s? They are are owned by a company and fared well and became mainstream. Let's not forget about Philips, they own the CD-DA patent. That proprietary format (at the time) made leaps in the music, gaming and storage business.

Meanwhile, DVD+ and DVD- made me skeptical of very new formats (till my DVD player used both).

Whatever wins out. 50 gigs of anything can't be so bad...unless its gay porn or Barney episodes.

i read yesterday that blu-ray will have some magical coating on it that will help prevent it frmo being scratched. i'd say scratch resistant but like i read but i dont think thats possible. but it'll do a good job.

true, but HD-DVD is a Warner Brother format, so its basically American Format vs Japanese Format

i honestly dont care which one wins, although i do slide toward blu-ray because it is better overall, just more expensive

It is when you think about it. All they gotta do is put an layer of that crap they put on scratch resistent lences for glass's, or put an clear coat of teflon over it.

I wack off to you Jessica James. May we be blessed with Blu-ray. Though I doubts that, Sony wants to use it exclusivly for them along with the Playstation 3.

Sony has always been integral to technology advancement . . . unfortunately they play basically the same role as Apple does. They innovate, fail miserably, and the copycats of them succeed wonderously.

I'd try "Sony" "innovation" "failure" "history" and "technology" for starters.

*salutes*

Well of course it has... the ability to make cash has always been a driving factor in the advancement of humanity... ever look at the advancement of the medical industry...

and the huge fucking prices of it's services? I think that explains it well.

funny you should say that really.

Last time a battle like this happened (VHS vs BETAMAX (sonys version of VHS)) the porn industry went with the vhs and well that won.
