You realise celcius makes far more sense than farenheight yes? we stopped using farenheight when my mum was but a child! (Long time ago!!)

I mean when it is freezing point in farenheight it's about 32 when it is freezing point in celcius it is 0c ? hmm yes - are you americans not the only people still using it? :rolleyes:

we can use both, almost every household thermometer ive seen has a scale for both B) tho they never really teach us celcius outside of science class :blink:

btw, temp out here in michigan usa has been in the 50-90 (F) in the last week :blink:

And they should teach it math class not just science, that how me and my friends have learned it. Along with how to convert kilometers into miles, and all that other fun shit. It extremly hard to talk to most of my yank friends WHO most have gone to univsierty and college, and tell them how far an kilometer is, and what -30C is in yankie talk whenever they ask about the weather, or how far this or that is.
back to the topic it be raining on an off for the past week and a half, and i'm loving it.

well it's raining now <_<

and yeah why dont you shift to the metric system???!!!! my dad was in america the other week and he was measuring water depth or smmat and he read it off in feet and inches for his american colegues and they were like "no, we use tenths of feet because it's easier to add up etc" well why dont you use metric! lol!

10mm = 1cm
100cm = 1m
1000m = 1 km

lol!

Who the hell cares what system we use? While we are talking about measurements, why doesn't everyone use the same money? Because 1. It's not THAT hard to convert most values and 2. It would be too much of a pain in the ass to get everyone on the same systems. It's the same thing with the US not using the metric system....
...What? :lol:

I too think America should go to the metric system. My first question is 1. Who invented customary units of measurement, and 2. Why? Metric was working so well before.

Anyway, it's just simpler to teach the metric system so we can save an entire month of math and science in schools just so we can learn a more commonly used form of measurement.

yeah the metric system is by far the better
the only thing it sucks at is for measuring height

i think i would rather be 6'3 than like 184 cms or something

The main reason why you're stuck with you're current system of measurments in the united states, is because metric is british. Back in coloneal times, your ancestors wanted pretty much everything british gone. at least that what been told to me, as to why you guys haven't gone metric. Shit you should, half the world if not all of it uses metric.

Actually, I think the system we use now is British. That was back when feet were actually measured with the King's feet, thus the name feet. Feet. At least that's what I rememberize, I could be wrong.

we used to use it but then we got smart and used the metric, but its only been recently that we've switched, i mean my mum was taught in school to use feet and inches
