i thought some people might have interesting stories behind the name they choose to present themselves as on a forum.

my nic, ziptal, comes from frustration over common nic names (such as Puff) being already taken on other internet sites. So i combined Zip from zipcode and Tal from postal code into one name that is never used, and easy to remember.

Hmm. Before I stumbled upon theroms (about 3 yrs ago), I wanted to have the shortest email address' and logon name's possible. So I used my initials. The only problem there was is rjd was taken all the time so I added my birth month and year on (rjd279). Thats what screen name I had before and I asked Chris or RaF to change it to just rjd since there wasn't 278 other rjds here.

I shudder to think that solid_snake crossed my mind.

I always wondered about yours, Ziptal . . . Mine, some people may remember. My first SN on AIM, when I first got the internet back in the day, was hard to think of because I too could not find an untaken one. So, I looked around the room. Saw a lamp, saw my dog, and my brother was watching a Bond movie. So, there I was with Lampdog007. I loved that SN, should have kept it but I forgot my password. Anyway, I got into a little programming group called "Graphite Productions," to which I could offer very little. All the members had funky names, so I had to go along with all of the greek-like stuff, and call myself "Lamperus." Later on, I hit the Michelle Branch forum when she told me that it was up, and she saw my SN, and said "Hey, Lampy!" and from then, people called me that for a couple years. Then . . . I found TheRoms. I put my name in, Lamperus, and almost immediately I recieved the first-ever custom title below 50 posts - "Tha Pic Man" given to me by Tha Masster, of course. And I earned it! Hehe, anyway, when that finally subsided, a few of you still called me "the," and it kind of stuck. Though, being around all of you brits and cannucks, you tend to call me "Lamperous" instead of "Lamperus" ^^;. Anyway, that's the story of me. How long and odd.

Anyhow, I got mine from Transformers. My Fav. character was the Jeep, Hound. I added some Xx xX's for some style, and BOOM. XxHoundxX.

yeah tj, you did tell us before.

my sn is basically the kind of stuff i call myself, with a number after it. i think i decided on 52 cause sometimes i think im one of the handfull of people who could slip into a 52 hour day (heard about a study on sunlight being connected with sleeping patterns), plus my dad was born in '52, so i think the number just passes through my head a few times when deciding. how redundant :D

For a slacker...sounds like quite a bit of thought put into your user name. My dad was born in 52' too.

For the record I noticed Tim's backwards name, I just thought the T was for Todd or Tad.

My name came from when I was a young and stupid Half-Life player who joined a clan. The people in the clan didn't like my old name(Real High Ping) and I got called a llama in-game for my dirty tactics. so I added dragon and 2.0 for dramatic effect.

I use to use this when I played Tribes. And continue to use this as my online gaming tag. Or rather use too, before my comp fell behind the times. Nothing mysterious.
