For the week, the currency was little changed at 83.73 U.S. cents in Toronto. One U.S. dollar buys C$1.1944. it jumped to 84.20 cents, a 12-year high, on Nov. 17. The next day, it closed below 83 cents for the first day in 10. Eighty-four cents ``has become a key psychological level'' for investors, said Mazanec.

it was under .64 USD not too long ago... so its grown a lot ;)

*off topic* my question is, why the hell havnt prices gone down. A high dollar means cheaper imports, thus prices should go down. Have they, hell no. what a jip, i think i'ma go to washington state and buy some stuff down there.

Actually when the price of the dollar goes down imports go up but prices stay the same cause the damn dollar doesnt stay cheap for long and thats why importers dont lower prices they get more money back in those days, did I made n e sense? I work for a mexican custom broaker btfw :p

ya that does make sense, the dollar can change every few weeks, there would be not point in changing the price of good every week, that would be too much trouble...

Actually it's best to invest some money in gold or something wiht a steady value rather than have it all in whatever currency your country is using, whose value can go up or down.
