thank you crazy weed.....*takes the stage*

A Level are what you do after you leave school at 16, they are your entry into university, the higher the grade the better the uni and course etc etc. they are divided into 2 parts, AS Levels and A2 levels, combiened makes and A level. You do your AS Levels first and you take 4 subjects and you can get a grade A,B,C,D,E,F,G,U. You then drop one (least favourite subject or lowest grade or watever) and you have to pick up general studies which is totally stupid but you have to do it :(. for you A2s you again get graded A to U depending on a score out of 300 made up of course work and exam scores etc etc. your final grade is A to U when you combien your AS grade and your A2 grade (so a score out of 600).

Get it??

And he's going to Kent

the thing i did was much simpler than the A level grading stuff, A B C D E F/U. i know F is fail but i've also seen U (ungraded) as fail too. below E is fail anyway whatever way you look at it.
My AVCE (advanced vocational certificate of education) is equivalent to 2 a levels.

oh, and not all colleges make you take general studies the second year, i know someone who done it both years.

. . . Good lord you guys are insane. We stay in school generally until we've passed grade 12, following the normal curriculum. Colleges then just look at your grades and SAT scores. O_o; Unless you're me . . . I've been in college for three years (since I was 16), but that's not normal. ^^;

I got very close to that point, but figured I still wanted to get my HSD, but not go to school... hey, independent study!

Some parents are all weird about their kids doing that though, saying crap about how you'll become a social hermit and stuff... too bad I beat them to the punchline DURING the time I was on campus.

Anyway, I never made good grades, but congrats on yours CLGG.

not quite as AS and A2 Levels aren't compulasary education cos the fuckers in our government make us do exams when we leave school at 16 called GCSE's (taken just before u go to college) so all the stupid bastards can fail and therfore don't have to waste any more of the Governments money missing classes and such like........ it's gay though cos if you fuck these exams up when ur 16 it's hard to get to college and nearly impossible to go to uni..... oh well they are well easy though so most people go to college....... so I've had to do important exams fdor the past three years.... also on AS and A2 levels you have to do exams in the winter and the summer...... it's a really stupid system... oh well no more eams for a year then time for uni..... wghich thank God only has one set of exams each year and lot's of team projects...... slacking and drinking for me then :P

Yes . . . SOME PEOPLES' FRIGGIN RETARDED MOM'S do think that way . . . ^^;;

Nat . . . um . . . no offence to your country . . . but it's school system sounds really fucked up, and WAY over regulated. Here you graduate when you've finished all of the requirements, and then it's up to you . . . college? University? You choose. You can also do what I did, and just screw the whole thing and just do college, if you can get away with it. And we have MUCH less controlled colleges and universities. In ours, we have professors that lecture, and it's up to them what you get assigned, not up to the school or the state. . . I dunno, I like our system a lot more.

Shitty. I have an average of like C. still going to college, and can whenever I so please. and the goverment paying for it. though I gotta pay back once I graduate. I can also go to uni, if I get my grades up to an 80 pecerante while in college this year if I so chose.

erm i think not! when i was in america a few teachers gave us little end of year games and said whoever won the game wouls automatically get an A for the year. THAT is fucked up. also you dont all learn the same thing, we had an american teacher come overto our college and she decided that we were gonna learn about 'X' so she bought a load of books without realising that you have to follow the curriculum because evryone in the country learns exactly the same thing so basically she wasted most of our budget for that year.

that my little top hatted friend is fucked up!

adding onto that I can see what you mean about you liking your system cos it does sound pretty cool.... I still like mine cos if I came over to your country my qualfications are worth more cos they're British and our system is supposed to be one of the best..... so I put up with it for that.

Your point is well taken, m'lady. Actually, I wrote a paper on it as my final for English. ^^;; I agree, we have huge problems. However, I was more speaking of how our system is SUPPOSED to work, rather than how it does work. But you're entirely correct.

god point dude cos we have coursework that our teachers mark which determines part of our grade and unless your one of the 5% of students taking that subject who are moderated no-one except for your teacher will amrk it and I know many people who were marked unfairly *cough* my computing report *cough* but seroiusly it's well dodgey

....and CGG who can you call little... :P
