Actually, Bush lost by about 500000 or so votes. The only thing that got him in was an old archaic system that we don't need anymore called the electoral college. Here's how it works. Basically, each state is worth a certain number of "votes" based on the state population. The largest is my state, CA w/I think... 52 votes. Anyway, they base the election on those, not the popular vote.

Bush had more of them cause... well... y'know... Jeb rigged Florida for him by apparently "missing" some votes that were eventually found. In otherwords, altered.

Off the subject though, I didn't like Gore a lot either. I'd like to see Naider in.

meh, if you study it in more detail the electoral college is a good idea.

because if not, then you get regional disparity, because the vast majority of the population is located along the eastern coast, primarily in Newyork. If you just used first past the post, then whole elections are decided just by that one state. and thats retarded.

and if its that way, then people just complain about getting regional representation (like alberta complains in canada)

i like the single transferable vote system, its based on propotional representation and its quite fair, however it generally leads to weak coalition governments

....it's farer but not perfect.....

The aussie combination ballot is the best, I think. only problem is you have to be educated on the election, and the ballots need to be randomized to prevent donkey votes
