Should I reinstall XP cos since I replaced my gfx card it keeps saying it can't run a program cos of an invalid address (then gives me one in hex) and also keeps lcoking up if I'm running stuff for too long. Also take the piss to start up...I think it's been installed for about a month now.....should I reinstall??????

You may have to manually address your IRQ address for your video card to work. In this way, windows can communicate w/your video card. You can input what IRQ address to use for your video card under the device manager for your video card. That should probably fix that problem... hopefully.

Maybe a lack of system resources is the cause of the freezing up all the time.

And I don't think reinstalling Windows XP will help. I highly doubt it at least.

Maybe you just have a lot of stuff starting up in the background when Windows starts... try turning some of that stuff off, or just altogether removing the stuff you don't need.

If it doesn't work... meh. Least I tried.

would have thought the irq address is working properly as windows does actually load up. but lack of resources sounds the best theory unless its his drivers out of date.
judging by his desktop the rest of the pc is probably full of shite too so i'd recommend a clear out of anything u dont want that will load up on boot mainly. or any other cack too.

my drivers are the latest....I don't just get it from games.....nearly all my resource hogging apps have done it (IE, WinDVD, Games) but only randomly....I dunno...I've had problems before when I've changed gfx card w/out reinstalling Windows.....I dunno...but changing the GFX card deffintaley buggered up Windows 98....I rarely use it so I dont care

edit: Don't mess about with my posts whoever thinks nut is a funny word to add in randomly......:P
