have a read of this: <a href='http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303728' target='_blank'>http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303728</a>
it seems the main problem with be either if you have zone alarm installed or CleanSweep, although i think there are possible other reasons.

if norton isn't on the laptop, are any of the following programs installed?:

Go!Zilla
BearShare
MP3.com
iMesh
Babylon
Cydoor

lol. Yeah, I had problems w/Zone Alarm too. It wouldn't shut IE down, but unless I turned it on, none of my browsers would go anyway.

So ZA is on my list of things to kill.

try installing netscape and using that instead of IE... I have to use it now to reafd my emails cos IE is all fucked up with some random search bar that routes half my sites through it's own crappy search and means I can't log in... FUCK MYSEARCH.COM!!!!!!!!!

remove the search bar from add/remove programs... 99% of the time they're stupid enough to make the installer register it in there.

well it depends on how you mean.... if ur on about ur web speed it's how big ur bandwidth is and how it's split between ur computer and your other computer.....
