I just downloaded the Partition Magic demo and I want to creat a linux partition.

I'm planning on running Fedora Core 3 (I've got the disks right now)

This is how I think I'm going to set it up (I've got an 80gb HD):

XP: 60gb
Swap: 1gb
FC3: 19gb

Can anyone give me a step by step guide for creating the partition and then booting Fedora?
Thanks in advance!

Step 1) crack partition magic
Step 2) create new partition for linux
Step 3) let pc restart
Step 4) boot up with FC3 disc in drive

I could be wrong because i've never gotten round to installing linux myself. but i know someone who's done it and he never had any problems like he did with debian which needed configuration stuff typing in to a command line.

Put the Fedora Core CD-ROM (or DVD-ROM) in your drive and restart the computer. If your BIOS is set up right, it should run the setup from the CD-ROM.

Now you can make a partition in the setup program!

I got it done last night. Turns out, I had a partition on there (D: the HP_recovery disk) lol! I just deleted that partition with Diskdruid, then installed using the free space. Fedora kicks ass! I am having trouble setting up an internet connection though :(. I'm using Xp right now :(

I never had a problem connecting the net.. although i have only tried knoppix. it just automatically detected the ethernet connection to my router.

Hehehe, if I'm not mistaken, you just delete yeah windows back up files. I have an HP as well ATM with the same partition on the harddrive. Common practice for most computer companys these days is to make an extra partition with XP installed on it, so they don't have to give yeah the disks. You shoulda just made an third partition.
