I'm trying to run a downloaded copy of FFVII(downloaded because my purchased disks are scratched of course) and I can't seem to get it to play. It loads the new game screen with the sword and gets me all excited but thats it, blackness and sadness after that. Anyone have some advice?

thats farther than I got
When you open the game the screen goes black like the game is going to start and then goes back to the desktop.

I think XP is anti-FF7 and that sucks.

A lot of those older games run on DOS, and XP (correct me if I'm wrong) doesn't have any DOS support at all.

DOS based games don't work on XP.

a friend of mine has XP and he's played it on his computer,

I'd reinstall or check the settings

there's a patch for windows XP, pm me your email address and I'll send it to you (or just search for it on google), it's well annoying though, when I first played it on XP it would work but I'd get the black screen stuff when I tried to do the first chocobo race.

I downloaded a program called DOSbox. It's like a DOS emulator.
