ok, so i've been useing ares galaxy here to dl lots of movies and songs and games and stuff, but a while back my college's it dept got some program that compleatly blocks up file shareing access. i was wondering if anybody else has run into similar problems and if you ever got around them. is there like a counter blocking program or some way to sneak past it? i like my free files.

I think the easy answer is no, but to be perfectly honest I dont actually know what the program is you speak off.

Its probably a case of your college having a NAT firewall, which is basically a hardware firewall that won't let anything through its not supposed to. It can be configured to let certain programs through, but obviously this isnt possible.

Basically I dont really know what you should do cos Im a noob at networking, but you may be able to find other p2p programs that will work through the firewall.

Try winmx and if it still cant pass the firewall... welll do you have access to the firewall and what kind of firewall are we talking about?

hardware which means admins are the only ones who can unblock ports..... tbh u'll be lucky if any work.... Bit Torrent might work if they haven't blocked off all ports in the higher ranges but I doubt highly
