Alright, so what is everyones view on this movie. Personally, I think this movie was WAY ahead of it's time, and that the character development is just great. Animation is also really good, and you just cant beat an anime movie that is almost 3 hours.

I've talked about Akira too much in the past 12-13 years haha. I'm just sayin it's a fantastic movie. I HATE the new english dubbing though. Stupid fuckers

i remember once i was at natakus house when there were viewers and we were sitting in bed watching it in japanese with no subtitles and they gave us such a funny look!! hahahah!

lol that was quite good....... what amazed me was that they only used about 1000 colours...... it certainly looks like more....

I have to agree the movie was way beyond its time. I have it on dvd and I cant stop watching, its just that cool.

Love the movie, I've seen it soo many times its not funny. Bought the tin case edtion the day it came out.

akira was indeed way cool. i wish the tires on my minivan put out a much green sparkings as that motorcycle, but alas.

yeah, i've read the first graphich novel, but haven't had time at a bookstore that hass any others, and i'm way to cheep to actually buy them. (its like 130 at least for the full set with tax! insane!!) but from what i've seen even the movie left a lot out...

I have all but the last too of the manga. They are ALOT better than the movie.

you can buy the entire collection in a comic store in Notts England for about £200...but you'd have to come over here to get it... I would love to but I don't like it THAT much

I will only say that the manga is a lot better...it makes more sense than the anime & has lots more action

the animation in akira was awesome....but just like every other anime, i could not follow it worth crap! i tried watching appleseed last night, and it was just as hard for me to watch that as it was akira, all these animes start off in the slumbs or the out skirts of some amazingly evolved city thats been trashed by war, then a government conspiracy starts to unravel, and it ends with giant robot battles in which alot of buildings get destroyed, and one itty bitty human finds a way to destroy them all..its gettin kinda old

yes......well there are alot of animes that are nothing like that....but quite a few of the ones ive seen are like that...alot of the movies that arent based off of a series are anyways

hmmm, I can see what you were meaning though but it's the basic story line for most action adventure films, anime just has more weird ones so people group it all together
